St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School wins Green Schools Challenge

St. Francis Assisi Green Team Wins the Green Schools Challenge

Schools throughout San Diego County including St. Francis Assisi participated in the San Diego Green Building Council’s first annual Green Schools Challenge, a friendly competition where k-12 schools develop a “green” project that they complete throughout the school year.
St. Francis Assisi’s school-wide efforts including a new composting program, a recycling campaign and school garden were selected as the Grand Prize Winner of this year’s challenge.  As a result, the students at St. Francis Assisi were able to give back to the local community and gain a better understanding of our food systems, waste disposal and the importance of recycling. Additionally, the school will receive a certificate of recognition from the San Diego Green Building Council and the students will be treated to a 1-hour assembly with the San Diego Zoo.
